MANIFESTO — WHY THE COLONY DOESN'T PUBLISH
A new movement in privacy, stated once and then acted on rather than repeated.
A public ledger of who owns what is not ownership. It is a registry. For fifteen years we called the registry the innovation, and quietly accepted that the price of holding anything was announcing it forever.
Your wallet is a permanent dossier. Balance, timing, taste, every counterparty you ever touched, indexed and searchable by anyone with a browser. You did not consent to that. It was bundled.
Nobody actually wanted this. Holder lists get scraped for phishing. Whale wallets get followed, front-run and drained. Airdrop farmers read the snapshot before you do. The transparency we were sold protects the observer, never the holder.
Privacy is not secrecy. Secrecy hides something. Privacy is choosing what to reveal, to whom, and when — the ordinary condition of owning anything anywhere else in life.
So the art is public and the owner is not. Every penguin is visible to everyone. The holder is visible to nobody, including us, including after we are gone. The chain has no field to leak because the field was never written.
This costs us the things collections are usually built on. No holder role, no verified avatar, no rarity board, no snapshot to farm. We think those were never the point. If they were the point for you, we are the wrong colony, and we would rather say so here than take your money first.
